Ambronite Supermeal Review + Smoothie Recipe

Disclosure: I was gifted a box of Ambronite Supermeal packets for review purposes on the blog.  While I received the product as compensation for a review, all opinions (as always!) are my own.

Okay, first let me say that this smoothie tastes a HECK of a lot better than it looks.  Pretty much any smoothie that starts with a brownish-green powder is going to turn out, well... brownish-green.  But trust me - it tastes WAY better than that.

Before I get to the recipe (and the many failed attempts at making a smoothie), you might wonder what the heck Ambronite is in the first place.  It's a meal replacement powder made from REAL organic ingredients (not supplements) like almonds, brazil nuts, apples, oats, & coconut.  At 500 calories per packet, it contains all the essential meal nutrients on the go: 30g of protein, 54g carbs, essential vitamins & minerals, and more:

The awesome thing about Ambronite is it kept me full.  No joke.  I've tried smoothies before, but they were more for a small snack or to have in addition to a larger meal.  But Ambronite IS the meal.  It's perfect to have on hand for, say, after a morning workout or for lunch when you're swamped with things to do.  I made this one yesterday mid-morning when I wasn't quite ready for lunch, but needed something to tide me over.

Now, you CAN shake Ambronite up in water to have as a super quick meal sans bender, but I honestly think it tastes way better with some fruit flavors added in.  Without the fruit, it reminds me of blended oatmeal.  Which isn't that bad (I do love oatmeal!), but it's just not my taste when it comes to smoothies.  I like my smoothies fruity and citrusy.  So, when the recipe testing started, I quickly discovered that the key to making this taste great was strong citrus flavors.  I will say that I wish I had used a fruit juice (like orange juice) as a base instead of soy milk to give it that little extra zing this time around, but hey, soy milk is what I had on hand, and it turned out pretty good!  Check out the recipe below and definitely feel free to modify it to your tastes!

Ambronite Fruit Smoothie Supermeal

Ambronite Fruit Smoothie Supermeal Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 packet Ambronite
  • 1 5.3-oz cup mango Greek yogurt (any fruit flavor will work)
  • 1 cup soy milk (or fruit juice of your choice)
  • 1/2 cup frozen fruit (I used Dole's Citrus Blend with mango, orange, pineapple & banana)
  • 3-4 ice cubes
  • note: I completely forgot that in previous recipes there was also a frozen banana in there, too.  It wasn't included in this recipe, which tasted great, but feel free to add it if you like!

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Place all ingredients in large blender (I started with the frozen fruit and ice cubes, then added the soy milk, yogurt, and Ambronite packet).
  • Blend on high (smoothie setting if you have one) until smooth
  • If the consistency is a little thick, add a bit more liquid and blend again
  • Pour into serving cup, top with fresh fruit, and enjoy!

The recipe above makes way more than just 1 cup.  It makes about 2.5 large glasses full.  So, I drank one and kept the extra in the fridge to stir up tomorrow after my morning workout.  To learn more about Ambronite and learn how you can get a free packet to try for yourself, check out their website here.  You can also follow them on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.  I hope you enjoy it!
